LAHA MEMBERS,

You will need to purchase your skating passes before getting on the ice tomorrow night for the Elks Hull Hockey Camp and anytime thereafter.  If you do this by going to the Aquatic Center to purchase them, you get a multi pass discount but if you do it online you do not get the multi pass discount.  You can also get them at the rink & multipass discount, but I would not suggest that unless you do it before you have to be at the rink for an event.  It is a new system and the staff will just be learning how to use it.

Now for USAH events, weekly hockey, we need each team to have an adult in the locker rooms when the players are in the room.  They are also required to take Safesport and a background check.  The links for these are here on our website.

Also, have your players always check in with your skate pass and do it numerous times.  This is how the County knows how many people are using the facility and funding for repairs and improvements is based upon this.

We will probably start our season next week but we will let you know for sure.  If we do it will be on Monday next week.

I spoke with the manager of the rink and everything is coming together for the Hull Hockey Camp starting this Friday!!  So, plenty of time to sign up.  We have updated the schedule to help some of our new members know when their kids skate (see schedule below)  Please be there 30 minutes before so your kids can change their clothes in our new locker rooms.  I also need to check the players in.  You will have to wear masks in the warming hut (building where you come in and in the locker rooms).  We will need a parent in each locker room for each group while kids are in the locker rooms.

At present time we have 40 players signed up.

The cost will be 

Atoms/MiniMites through 8 year olds - $100

Squirts-Bantam - $125

ADVANCED POWERSKATING & TECHNIQUE CAMPS

Teaching powerskating is my passion and I firmly believe the most important skill any young hockey player can focus on is skating – “The best players are the best skaters!” These sessions will include lots of advanced edge-work and foot-work. The drills will have a huge focus on balance & coordination, body-weight shifts, and using their edges in ways they probably never have before! The players will be challenged to execute drills that will force them to get better and stronger on their feet – The more they can do in their skates, the better hockey players they will become. Drills will be run with a high pace to ensure maximum repetitions per player. The best part about this camp is that the players thrive on challenging themselves and end up absolutely loving this one!

These sessions are guaranteed to:

• Stretch the skater’s legs out
• Build leg and core strength
• Improve endurance, conditioning, balance & coordination
• Highly Improve edge-work & foot-work (both forwards & backwards)
• Increase recognition of how body-weight shifts can improve posture & technique

Improve overall skating ability

Saturday 

• 10:00-11:00am - Atoms/Mites (5-8 Year olds)
• 11:15-12:15pm - Squirts-Bantam (9-14 Year olds) 
• 5:00-6:00pm - Squirts-Bantam (9-14 Year olds)

Sunday

• 7:30-8:30am - Atoms/Mites (5-8 Year olds)
• 8:30-9:30am - Squirts-Bantam (9-14 Year olds)
• 11:00 am-12:00pm - Squirts-Bantam (close out with everyone)

LAHA MEMBERS,

We are getting prepared for hockey!!  One of the needs each team has is the following volunteers

• coaches & assistant coaches
• team manager
• team locker room monitor

Each of these carry some training courses required by USA Hockey.  Anyone that comes in contact with a player in a locker room or in the player boxes must take Safesport and have a background check run at no cost to you.  The coaches have training requirements that must be met to step on the ice.

So, please consider becoming one of these jobs for your child's team.

You can now register for LAHA hockey online at our website.  We accept ages 5-18 years of age.  We hope to start by the end of November early December.  We will also be advertising when you can rent your equipment or size up if needed.
